Company Profile

Antares Nuclear is developing the Mark-0 microreactor under the DOE Reactor Pilot Program, targeting zero-power criticality at Idaho National Laboratory by July 4, 2026. The company secured a DOE conditional commitment for HALEU fuel supply in August 2025 — a critical milestone validating their fuel pathway. Antares has completed PDSA (Preliminary Design Safety Approval), clearing the path toward construction at INL. The Mark-0 is designed for compact, deployable nuclear power at the 10 MWe scale.

Reactor Specs
REACTOR DESIGN
Mark-0 · Nuclear Microreactor

Uses tbd as coolant instead of water. Operates at higher temperature for greater thermal efficiency.

POWER OUTPUT
10 MWe

Powers ~8,130 average US homes. A standard large nuclear plant produces ~1,000 MWe.

COOLANT
TBD

Specialized coolant selected for this reactor design's thermal and safety profile.

FUEL TYPE
HALEU

High-Assay Low-Enriched Uranium. More energetic than standard fuel but requires dedicated US enrichment capacity not yet fully built out.

TARGET OPERATION
2026

US nuclear projects historically require 7–10 years from construction permit to first power. The 2026 target assumes factory-built modular components and no major regulatory delays.

SITE LOCATION
Idaho National Laboratory, ID

Adjacent to Idaho National Laboratory — the DOE's primary nuclear energy research facility. Site has hosted test reactors since the 1950s.
